I installed a 160 GB G2 Intel SSD today. Everything works, but my read/write times suck ~ 14 for write.
I figured a firmware update from HA to HD might help, but i created a bootable DVD, and when I insert it, all I get is a blinking cursor on the upper left hand corner for a long time.
Would appreciate any help. I made sure it was AHCI, I turned on the writing cache thing, etc.
i don't know what i'm doing wrong
Thanks.

Did you try reordering the boot order so it boots your dvd drive first before the HDD.
I assume you are using Roxio that likely came with your TP. Your thinkpad is also new, so this might not be the problem. But you can take a look @ this (however it is related to a thinkpad bios bootable cd problem, so not realy related to your intel firmware cd).

I'm still getting only 12 MB/s and 14 MB/s read times even after doing everything.
AHCI
TRIM Optimizing through Toolbox
Update Firmware
Turn on Cache Write
Disable Indexing and Superfetch
Not sure what's wrong with it. -
try different driver...

I dont think you upgraded your firmware at all. That blinking '_' on the top left screen means you havent even got into the update utility and it is not loading anything. It sounds to me like something is making you not burn the firmware update cd properly. This is similar to the older TPs with the problem wtih the roxio burner.
