I have T61 with T7200 cpu inside. Would it be possible to put Q9000 there ?

-I don't know which socket this notebook has, nor
-I am not sure how to recognize/differentiate socket p from socket 479

any links on this? any ideas ?

T7200 is a socket M CPU if I recall correctly so that would mean you can upgrade to socket M CPUs only(q9000, being a quad aside, is NOT a socket M CPU)

You can only upgrade to the T7400 and T7600 (Both are socket M processors)
Upgrading from a T7200 to a T7600 may show an increase in performance, but its not going to be enough to justify the price.

You may want to upgrade the memory, or harddrive in order to increase system performance.

Upgrade the hard disk to an SSD. This will provide an overall performance increase, battery life increase, and more reliability as SSDs are not mechanical devices.
