I am aware of making a non-Lenovo/IBM mini pci-express wireless card work on a ThinkPad by covering pin 20, but is there a way to get a Lenovo/IBM branded wireless card on other laptops (specifically on an Aspire One D250).
The specific card I'm talking about is an Intel WiFi Link 5100 abgn card (full length). Upon installing it on the spare mini pci-express slot, the driver will install under Windows 7 but it is unable to start. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sometimes OEMs lock the card's firmware to work on their machines only. I know HP does this.

it should work as long as acer doesn't blacklist cards like hp and lenovo... and also if its fits the acer..
