Hello i was wondering if the lenovo i got from a friend could be upgraded.

    it a b570 1068 with a pentium b940

I do Boinc and F@H on cpu. And those i7 are pretty good performance per watt.

Trying to find if i could upgrade it... I dissasembled that laptop in the past to replace the fan.

I seen guy who did get a i5.. But im not too sure.. Im checking with cpu z but the motherboard is socket 988B rpga and intel says the i7 is compatible... But i have no idea if that mobo was sold with the i7.

I dont want to fry the vrm.....

    Thank you :)

The problem is if the heat sink can handle the extra heat of a 45 watt processor.

Be careful, even if it's compatible you might find it shuts down after 30 minutes of use. It's a limitation placed on some laptops so you won't upgrade the cpu. Happened to me with an Acer with a pentium B840, when i tried to upgrade it to an i5. Apparently it's a timer controlled by the Intel Chipset, and found no way to stop it. I don't know if all manufacturers have this limitation active though.
