I was looking at the Lenovo website and noticed that the GPU ultrabay upgrade for the y400 is $230 and the upgrade for the y500 is $140, I was wondering if anyone knew if the GPU for the y500 could be put into the y400, the part numbers are different, but all of the specs are the exact same, here are the links.
y400:
Y400 Removable Graphics GN35 | Lenovo | (US)
y500:
Y500 Removable Graphics GN36 | Lenovo | (US)

I don't see any difference between the two either aside from part number and cost. Not sure if contact Lenovo about this would do you much good, as they may point you to the more expensive product - even if they're completely interchangeable - but you can try contacting them to see.

Bump! I too want to know. Reading the overview, seems there is a mistake. It says: "Y400 Removable Graphics GN35 is a proprietary product for IdeaPad Y400 which the highest GPU performance should be about 1.5 times than a single GPU,which users can much enjoy games." It says Y400 not Y500

GN35 is for the Y400 and GN36 is for the Y500 regardless of the typos on Lenovo's website. They are not interchangeable because GN36 has slightly larger dimensions. Check out the photos from the Y500 GPU I bought.

as long as the connvector and power requirements are the same just buy the 500 version and make it fit because that are only the size of a dime from fitting.
