    Hello,

Im new here. I did a search and found a BUNCH of stuff on my topic. However, I am still a bit lost as to suggestions.

I am a light gamer, basically I play Counterstrike source and a few other games that arent too hardware dependent.
I do however use my laptop for Video editing with Sony Vegas 8.0 and Photoshop CS/Gimp.

    On to my question...

    Currently I have a Toshiba P105-S6104
It has T5500 1.66 Core 2 duo processor
    2048 mb of ram
Crappy integraded 128 video chip set :(
120 gb hard drive (cant find the drive speed)

Now, recently I found a really good deal on a Toshiba P105-S9312
Intel Core Duo Processor T2500E 2.0ghz
    1024 MB RAM
120 GB Hard Drive (again I am not sure on speed, I believe its a 4200 RPM :( )
Nvidia GeForce Go 7900gs graphics card with 256 MB of dedicated RAM

I know the ram should be able to be transfered over. I also will be upgrading the hard drive for better performance.

    Ok finally my question lol...
Would it be worth it to upgrade the CPU in the second laptop to a newer chipset or is the 2.0ghz Core duo a good enough processor to run the programs daily and on the go.

Finally, where can I find the CPU configuration so i can attempt to find an upgrade?

    Sorry for the rambling post.

    2.0 core duo...

    T7400/7600

or if your bios doesn't support core2 you could

    T2600/2700

if you do the research you will find that all of the above processors are very expensive... probably not worth the upgrade.

Ok so I did look at the ones you posted and oh yeah...far out of my price range lol.

On an up note, I went to www.hwbot.org amd used the comparison charts for both the CPUs and GPUs. I feel much more comfortable and dont think Ill beed to do any further upgrades besides the RAM and maybe the Hard drive.

Thanks again for the help. :)

I'd guess the 2.0Ghz Core Duo should be enough, If ind a 2.1GHz Athlon X2 to be more than enough for gaming of that calibre which has similar performance.
