Is there a way to limit the amount of data needed to write to a HDD?
My laptop runs pretty hot sometimes, and I want to decrease the heat output (by also undervolting) but at night I leave uTorrent runing and the little blue light on the top of my notebook always blinks like crazy (HDD is being constantly written)

Is there a way I can tell the program to "save up" like a bunch of data before making a write?
Also could I carry this over to my whole system?

This all kinda reminds me of how SSDs suffer from small writes, so people make the blocks of data larger right?

Leaving uTorrent running is going to thrash your disk no matter what, you're constantly writing random bits of data from people you're downloading from and randomly seeking data to send back out to people who are sharing from you.

Have you tried Bittorrent ? I do (heavy) video editing with Bittorrent running in the background, and I don't find it to be thrashing the HDD in anyway.
