    after 1,000cycles the battery is heavily degraded... imo if you want a warranty you'll have to pay for it.

    I just build the price of a second battery into a laptop. Usually after 18-24 months I intend on buying a new battery. Of course I rarely keep my laptops for longer than that, and the ones I have, still held > 90% of their charge. Granted I don't use laptops that often on battery, except for my netbooks as of late, but battery is only $60 with shipping. Not an end of the world proposition.
