    Hey Guys,

I have a Core i3 for my HP G62 Laptop, been doing some research lately but I have a question about lithography.

    Specs as follows:
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M
    Intel Core i3 370M
    HM55 Chipset
    4GB DDR3

My Original CPU is Core i3 370M with a 32nm lithography, would it be possible to upgrade to a core i7 with a 45nm lithography? Or would I have to stick to 32nm?

    Thanks!
    David

I don't think so, but not because of the fact that it's 45 nm (well, not directly). I think the problem is the fact that I don't believe the G62 comes with a discrete video card, which means it depends on the integrated GPU on the 32 nm Arrandales... which the 45 nm Clarksfield i7s lack. In other words, if you upgrade to a 45 nm Clarksfield, there will be no graphics unit to display anything to the screen, so...

Edit - apparently there is a version with discrete graphics (ATI 5470), but the question is whether or not that's the version you have. It also still may not be possible due to BIOS issues.

It's unlikely because of the lack of IGP on quad i7's.

As long as the BIOS supports the CPU (and u have a separate GPU) it should work... HM55 supports the i7 chips
