    Dear friends ,
How can we lock the laptop hard drive using windows ?
I mean yes we can set a simple password but once you remove the hard drive from laptop and connect it via USB like a portable drive for another Computer anyone can easily come in to contact with personal details of that laptop drive .
Is there a possibility you can avoid this ?
And can anyone back up our hard drive when they attached like this ?

And is there a way we can get to know the serial numbers of my laptop hardware components?

It sounds like you should look into drive encryption, although there might be a noticeable performance hit on a HDD. I haven't noticed a difference on my SSD, but I don't benchmark.

@lahi88 Bitlocker encryption should suffice for your needs.

Look at the BIOS boot screen it will tell you the motherboard serial number.
