I feel like such a dork.
I have Logitech Z2300 speakers that I love.
And I have a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop that I love.

How can I connect the two ?

The speakers have a green speaker headphone kind of plug which plugs into the hole in the front of the laptop (right ?) and it has a 15 pin female serial connector.

My laptop does not have a 15 pin male serial connector.

I can not find a 15 pin male to usb adapter anywhere on the internet. Is there such a thing? How can I hook up my speakers?

I read somewhere that the 15 pin female serial thing on my laptop was for a VGA somthing or another.. it doesn't sound like I want to buy a male to male adapter to plug in here. Is it alright to plug in speakers to this VGA thing?

    duh... please help

The speakers have one wire coming out attached to a box controlling the power, volume and base, coming out of that box is the 15 pin female serial and the green plug.

I have tried just plugging in the green plug and they don't work. so I'm guessing I need the serial plugged in also.

    LOLOL

This is the best thread I've read in ages.

I also own a Z-2300, and they're fantastic speakers. Although you probably could have figured out the remote thing by...you know... looking at the back of the subwoofer. :p

In all seriousness, though, congratulations on a good purchase.
