Well, title says it all. I am looking for a 64GB Half Mini PCIe SSD with SATA interface. It is very important that it is "half" and "SATA". Currently, I have only been able to find 32GB versions, but I am sure there must be one. And again, it must be SATA, not PATA. :)

Look forward to hearing some responses! Thanks in advance.

    Regards.

Edit: If somebody knows that a 64GB Half Mini PCIe PATA will work with a Sager NP5796, feel free to let me know. But from what I understand, it will not.

The problem is that most non-netbook mini-PCIe slots don't have a hookup to the SATA or PATA controller, so unless the mini-PCIe SSD has a built-in controller that can work with a standard mini-PCIe interface, it's not going to work. I believe Samsung had announced a mini-PCIe SSD last year that would work that way, but I haven't heard any more about it since. I think that one might be the same mini-SSD that's used in the M6500 and M4500, but I'm not certain.

O, that's not a problem. My buddy has the same laptop as me and is currently using a 32GB Half Mini PCIe SSD as his boot. He just installed it into the Robson slot which is picked up as the 3rd SATA interface slot. Any ideas though on a 64GB SSD? And thanks for the quick reply!

Edit: Also, I took a look at the Samsung drives, and they have yet to be released. Articles dating back to 2009 are the last pieces of information I could find.

From what I can tell, they have 70mm SATA and only 50mm PATA; no 50mm SATA variants. :/

Renice have a 50mm SF1222 mPCIe sata product but it's not advertised. Can chat with them if interested.

On Dell E6500 there is a PCI-e slot for 370 bluetooth module. Does it work with PCIe SATA SSD?

    Thanks.

I am definitely wondering about this, too. I want to use one in the open UWB slot (or even the Bluetooth slot) on my laptop. Would either the Renice or the Runcore work? I would greatly appreciate any help on this. Thanks! And it looks like the following is 50MM (even though it says 70MM in one part of the description)...

The mPCIe slots in current notebooks have either pci-e or USB or both pins. Netbooks and a few rarities like M6400/M6500 have sata pins. Meaning - no go. Well.. unless you tapped your e-sata port internally and threaded it to the mPCIe SSD.

Lenovo have announced their new upcoming series will use mPCIe SSDs. Means we may see something as thin as a MBA 11.6".

Are there any mPCI-E based SSDs?

And yes, I read the thread, I mean with an onboard SATA controller. I think I've heard of these before...?

I just came across the following. This might be the solution...

mini PCI express (mini PCIe) SSD in a Lenovo Thinkpad T61p?

And it looks like they are talking about this (or at least, in the description of this item it says "Internal SATA Control")...

http://www.amazon.com/OCZ-Technology-miniPCI-Express-OCZSSDMPES-32G/dp/B00284AIWG/ (but it is big > 7" long)

Wow this is the winner if there's some way to boot from one of these things.

    -mPCIe boot SSD
    -2.5" storage
    -Optical retained
