A few months ago I found some awesome (free) high definition audio drivers that were compatible with my sigmatel sound card in my inspiron 1520 (and windows 7) and had a lot of cool features like a detailed global equalizer and lots of little tweaks you could make. They even blocked out the CPU whine you can normally hear through the headphone jack when no sound is playing. They were not from sigmatel or dell.
I have no idea what the software was called though and can't for the life of me find it on google.
I'm pretty sure on the place where I found the drivers they were talking about using them on a Toshiba.
The GUI for changing the settings and stuff had a dark background.
