I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with a Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT video card. I play alot of games and am always looking for a way to improve my graphics and gameplay. I was wondering if anyone here could tell me some significant upgrades for my video card that I could replace my current one with. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated! :)

Sadly, the 8600M GT is the best video card available for this laptop.
There is no way, I repeat, no way to upgrade to a better card than the 8600M GT in the 1520. If you had an 8400M GS, you could go to an 8600, but that'd still be your ceiling. Sorry.

You could look into overclocking the video card, that would be the only way you could get a boost in performance without replacing the entire laptop.
