Could anyone suggest what type of screen I should get with a new laptop that is ecological merciful on the eyes? These bright-glossy high-definition screens do have some glare and intensity I am afraid would strain the eyes ofter hours of daily work. I plan to do Forex/Stock trading on this laptop which requires continuous attention for hours at the time. What might be least fatiguing to the eyes?

    Thanks,
    A.

Get an anti-glare screen protector from 3M or buyviewguard.com

The matte display sounds more practical as I will be travelling and don't want to carry extra load like a screen protector. What does Levono call these matte displays on their options configuration webpages?

Well, all Thinkpads have a matte screen. It isn't an "option." It's what you get.

Not sure about the other Lenovo notebooks.

EDIT: Sorry, wasn't thinking about the SL series . . . not sure about them.

AFAIK, lenovo thinkpads dont have any glossy screens.

for dell "truelife" is their glossy ones.

AFAIK - Don't know what that is and I don't see this code anywhere on the Levono site. Please explain.

i think u can get better help if you fill in the FAQ and post the FAQ on the "what notebook should i buy" subforum.

its nice because people will point you in the direction of good deals/discount coupons as well.

From this quote, I can't gather if you're 100% against the glossy screened displays or not. If you are at all considering them, then I think you should. In my experience, the higher level of contrast/quality/brightness from a glossy display on laptops is actually nicer on the eyes than a matte screen. It depends on your setting, though... don't want a glossy screen if you have the potential to be in an office setting for any length of time - those overhead lights can be killer!

Going to a Best Buy isn't a good indicator of what you'd like better, either. They tend to have the most obnoxiously placed overhead lighting (for visual effect and to help the visibility of their product) and it doesn't do most screens much justice.

its not just overhead lighting, natural light from windows can be really annoying as well like in the case of my office. my matte screen on my laptop is ok, but the glossy screen on the iMac on my desk is unbearable. I have to close the blinds every time i use it.
