I had the seagate 500 gb 7200 rpm hdd, and they seem to be plagued with excessive parking, causing noise and drive deterioration. I promptly returned those. Looking to go back to a 500 GB solution, and couldn't find any others. Can someone point me to where I can buy non-seagata 500 gb 7200 rpm drives?

Seagate has been the only manufacturer with 500GB 7200RPM drives for a while, but Hitachi has one that should be appearing in retail channels in the near future.

I see. I can wait. I made the decision to be an early adopter this time and like every time, it was WRONG. I can live with 640 GBs, then move to 1 TB with windows complete pc backup :D
