    Stick to a reputable brand, such as Corsair, Kingston, Crucial or OCZ.

    Do you know what type of ram I should get, like what memory speed, anyone know what ram is compatible with my laptop?

    Your laptop specs are here. It looks like DDR2 either PC2-4200 (533MHz) or PC2-5300 (667 MHz) will work. See what speed the other 1gb memory is and match it, and like jetsar said, stick to a good brand.
