    You can look in Device Manager under USB Devices. Look for a Mass Storage Device entry. Then in the Details tab you can see hardware IDs and other stuff. You can also try a program like HWinfo. Not sure if you're gonna get all the info you're looking for. You can also take the drive apart and look at the actual chips on the pcb and then search for their specs online.

    If HWiNFO doesn't give the answer then another program to try is SiSoftware Sandra. However, obtaining the info you want through the USB interface may not be feasible in which case you need to look at the electronic components.

    will check with aida64 later..
    I just wanted upgrade firmware of the controllers on the pcb boards but that is probably impossible.. heh..

    Upgrading firmware via USB is feasible but usually the hardware manufacturers provide a utility to do this as on, for example, external optical drives.
