Black levels seem superior on the HD131X at the cost of lower ansi lumens.

Do you think the extra 1500 ansi lumens make up for a contrast ratio of 3000:1 rather than 20000:1?

I would be using the projector for both movies and gaming on my PC.

Also would there be a substantial amount of greater input lag on the HD131X?

I would take the 1080P ! HD131X anyday, the extra resolution will be enough to make you happy.

I only have an Acer X110 and its not bad, no ovbious input lag I notice, motion is quite smooth too since its DLP.

I'm leaning towards that one as well, the extra contrast seems very nice as well ^^

Good luck, just check if there is any 'eco' modes or settings you might need to change and figur eout where to mount it haha!

I use mine in 'eco' mode which just lowers the brightness slightly but your bulb will last longer etc. I have ~1000 hours on my bulb over a few years and its been fine for me, no major issues.

Mines only a 800x600 res, but we only watch tv through the composite cables so quality is adequate.

Mounting it is part of the fun with DIY home theatre :D

I run a used 10 year old Mitsubishi XL1U Projector and it rocks. Handles Blu-ray via rgb surprisingly well. Colours are also very natural and vivid. The guys above are spoilt lol with their expensive optima's. That said I also would go for the 131X Optoma for the higher res. Personally when mine dies I will be going LED. It is the future for projectors once the technology improves. Quiet, cool, light, small, long bulb life...

I'm planning to do the same thing as with my old Acer H5360 projector; buy a small glass surface to mount to the wall and place the projector on top of that. It worked really well in my old apartment and looked really nice too. I am going to mount it in my bedroom, as it is very sizable and I can make the room pitch black even in daytime by closing the window completely.
