About 4-months ago, I purchased a Dell Latitude e6510 from Dell Outlet. I am very happy with the computer but I do need to upgrade its memory from 4GB to 8GB. I am doing alot of .Net / SQL Server development and can really use the extra memory.
Looking at Dell's website, it appears the unit is equiped with DDR3 8500 (not 13333 MHz) memory modules. That speed seems odd considering I have the i7-720 processor.
I opened the unit and confirmed that there are two 2GB memory modules. To go to 8GB, I will need two memory modules.
Dell is out of stock of the 4GB SODIMM modules for the e6510 so I must go elsewhere.
Should I order the 8GB kit or two 4GB SODIMM modules? (I suspect its two 4GB modules.)
Can I order the 13333 MHz modules or should I stick with the same speed modules?
Does the CL matter? (I assume CL is clock latency?)
Thank you!

What processor does your unit have? Since Intel launched the Core series CPU's in 2010 the memory controller is on-die (part of the CPU).
Keep in mind that DDR3 memory support differs depending on the class of Intel Core CPU, i.e. i3's and i5's support slower DDR3 than the i7's, and just to make it a little more confusing, some models within the same line also support slower/faster DDR3.
These links should help put your mind to rest, just note the CPU model you have and click accordingly. I assume it'll be an i5 or i7.
What is the maximum capacity and type of memory supported by my intel i5 mobile processor based laptop?
