Hello! I want to get a Samsung 840 250GB to upgrade my Latitude E6510 (specs in sig) and I just had some questions.

This first question may seem silly, but will the Samsung 840 work with the E6510? I realize I won't be able to take full advantage of the SSD's speed on SATAII, but I just want to make sure there won't be issues putting it in a relatively old machine. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

My second question, somewhat related to the first, is whether or not I will need a spacer for the SSD to fit properly in the primary drive bay. My understanding is that Samsungs do not come with spacers unless you get a laptop upgrade kit. So I'm wondering if there will be a problem if I just purchase the SSD with no kit.

Also, sorry if this is more appropriate for the E6510 owners' lounge, but I figured I would ask here first.

    - it will work fine

    - depending on how the HDD bay is made, you may or may not need spacer. I used piece of cardboard placed on top of my SSDs to make them fit nicely on the HDD rail (you may or may not have that). Either way it's no biggie, most of the new SSD drives come in 7mm factor and there are plenty of laptops that have 9.5mm bays.

let us know how you like that 840, as it's the first TLC drive on the market.
