    I was trying to install a 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit in my M1330, and I can't figure out why it's not working.

When I tried to power up the computer the Media Direct Home Key was lit up, and the three small status lights next to the Media Direct key were flashing. After about 30 seconds or so the computer powered off.

Previously I had two 1GB sticks of 667, and I stuck one in to see if it would work. The computer powered up and had me acknowledge that the amount of system memory had changed. When I turned it off, and attempted to re-install the second 1GB stick that was originally in my computer.

When I powered the computer back on, I got the same blinking lights as when I tried to upgrade from 2GB to 4GB. I am totally baffled as to what I am doing wrong.

I don't think it's related, but I thought that I would mention that I removed Vista, and upgraded to XP. Thank you very much for any insight you can provide.

Windows XP, can only recognize around 2.5Gb of memory, so there was no need to upgrade your memory
Did you make sure that the memory is seated all of the way in the slots?
If I may ask, why did you buy Geil memory, its not that good. Geil was never really a big company, and their memory tends to be system specific. AKA, it does not like to work in certain systems.
Also, you should have bought pc5300 memory, not PC6400.
The XPS 1330 does not support pc6400. Its most likely the case, that the Geil memory cannot clock down to 667Mhz. Your board only supports 667Mhz Pc5300, so their was no point in buying the faster memory.

I advise returning the memory, and just keeping 2Gb of memory.
2Gb of memory is more than enough for Windows XP.
I have XP on my machines, and I have never used all of the 2Gb of memory.
You need a lot of memory for Vista, cause it caches and hogs up all of the systems resources. This is not the case with XP, so you do not need a lot of memory.

Well you can try updating the BIOS

Other than that id just return the RAM and get PC5300 G.skill, corsair or kingston
