I just bought an M17x R1, Single 260M, 1440x900 screen. I had to update some drivers to help cure the well-known latency issues, but for $600 I'm happy with it.
So here's my question: I'd love to have the 1920x1200 screen instead of the 1440, and I can get one from eBay, but is that something that's easy to change out. With it being Dell, I'd imagine it would be pretty easy, but has anybody ever tried it?
thanks!
edit: I may have posted too soon. Just found this...

wow, we've never ever seen that question here.
Not in the past 15 minutes anyway. Search is your friend.
There are plenty of recent threads on the subject. The general consensus is that if you're careful, if you have access to a service manual with decent diagrams to guide your disassembly and reassembly, if the parts fit, and if you get the correct cable, it MIGHT work.
Or it might not. No way to tell in advance in any particular case. -
My mistake - search is indeed my friend...
