    Hi,

I was reading around here and it says that the M17x-R3 along with the i7 2630QM is capable of supporting the Hyperx 1600mhz ram as long as it has the BIOS to support it. Can you please tell me more about the BIOS thing ?

    Thank you.

Any core i7 (2630qm, 2720qm, 2820qm and 2920xm) can support 1600mhz. the core i5 processors can only support up to 1333. So yes, you are good to go! :)

Sandy Bridge memory controller supports 1600 MHz RAM. In real world performance it doesn't make a difference.

Oh I forgot to ask this:

Currently, My M17x-R3 has two 2gb 1333mhz rams (The lowest on the config website). Can my laptop run two 4gb Hyper x's along with the two 2gb rams that were included side by side at the same time ?

I should think so, the M17x r3 has 4 ram slots, so that shouldn't be a problem. However, I would go ahead an pull all the way up to 16GB while your at it in a 4x4 config

you can run different speed ram, however they will run at the lowest clock available.
