i just ordered this laptop (M305-S4910). i havent gotten it yet so i can't cpu-z it, but from the product specs ( http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/detailed_specs/satellite_M305-S4910.pdf) it says it has the Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset. I was looking into cpu upgrade options for the Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset and found out that its comsspatitble with the T9000 series. i liked the look of the T9400 ( http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=35562). Mid range power not to exp. How ever the M305-S4910 comes with a T6400 ( http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=40479). So my question is am i stuck with the T6000 series and limited to something like the T6670 ( http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=42109) or is the T6400 just a stock cpu for the model?
I guess i wont know until i actually get the laptop and can cpu-z the motherboard since the product spec pdf doesnt mention what it is, but i thought id post here so i could get a heads-up and research some more cpus while i wait for the laptop to arrive.

T9000 series will work.
You might even get lucky and have the Q9000 work (but there is not a very good chance). -
should work since u got GM 45 chipset ..... but get the T9600... best price for performance...

i kno that laptops come with thier own heatsink / fan so im assuming that i dont need to buy a new one? or am i mistaken?
-
also i use artic silver 5 in all my builds so im assuming itll work here too, but where do i put it? a desktop processor (which is what im used to) is a lot bigger target lol

Yes you don't need to buy a new heatsink.
And yes you should use the artic silver 5.
Just put a small amount (like a grain of rice or less) on to the CPU die.
Let the heatsink spread it out as you put it on.
There are many guides for this, so you can just do a search and I'm sure you will find a good one.
