Yo everybody, so today I installed a brand new crucial m4 256GB, firmware 0009, latest intel chipset drivers (pretty sure) all drivers are the latest ones.
Also, I did a couple tweaks from this website: The SSD Optimization Guide - The SSD Review
    I ignored steps 6, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 17 and 18.
Now here are my results in Crystaldiskmark 3.0.1 x64:
    ALL READ:/Write:
    Seq: 487.3/259.8
    512K: 332.7/ 261.8
    4K: 12.04/46.83
    4K QD32: 192.8/243.0

Looking at my 4K read speed, I find it low, other people on this forum had more like 25 on 4K and 300 for 4K QD32....
Also I upgraded from an old 3GB/s Kingston 128GB SSD drive (with considerably lower values on all counts), and here is the real kicker... With the same tweaks on both... the old kingston supposably slower on all counts.... would start up my win 7 64 in 18 seconds on a fresh install.... and in 24 seconds with every thing installed (games apps etc...) and being 2/3 full....
My m4 is 11% full and starts in 21-25 seconds on a fresh windows install with nothing on...
WEI would grade the old one as 6.3 or so... and the m4 as 7.9...
So the benchmark are positive!!! The m4 is better.... but somehow it just ends up slower as the less perfomant elder...
    What da heck?! Help please!!
EDIT: this might be irrelevent, but my bios is A08.

If you're calling WEI a benchmark, just ignore it. Aside from that, go to the M17x subforum, as I believe there are a few threads relating to the ssd issues/fixes in the R3.

Thank you for your answer and expertise. In deed there are a couple problems in the m17x r3 forums about reaching 6GB/s speeds. I believe you must have experienced the same with your m15x possibly. But I am aware of it, I also posted on that subforums. Also I know WEI is no benchmark at all I just wanted to bring every bit of information I had access to to support that the m4 should be faster... but ends up booting slower than the old 3gb/s kingston!
Maybe there is something I did wrong? When I took the SSD out of its box, I simply plugged it in the laptop and installed windows 7. Did I miss a step there ? (I am in AHCI) Thanks for reading people!

I would recommend another clean install without all those needless 'tweaks'.

And yes, I too have found the M4 to be less than a stellar performer - but it is the least expensive and most reliable 256GB SSD I trust. ;)

Well if it's not just me then :) good, my primary reason for the upgrade was to increase storage space anyways (128GB was good only for one modern game then I was getting the drive more than 2/3 full) So the transition to a more spacious drive was gonna be needed at some point :D (I only have games that takes more than 11GB on the hard drive.... )
Well it starts in 19 seconds now, everything installed, all windows update, all games, photoshop elements etc which is a couple less seconds than before so still good. Well I guess it concludes my thread, I'm just pretty much disappointed on performances here but it seems to be normal so I'm happy :) !! happy holidays everybody!!!
