My Dell Precision M6400 that I loaned to my fiancee has a problem with a slowly dying backlight. I found a replacement screen, with hinges and cables, for a decent price, but the resolution is lower than my original screen. The original screen is 1920x1200, but the replacement would be 1440x900. Would I run into any problems installing the screen with a lower resolution?

Since it came with cables, I think it should work fine. Is it definitely not the inverter?

Well, let me give you the symptoms and you can tell me. Sometimes the left 3rd of the screen will go completely dark. Sometimes the entire screen will go dim and you can correct this by adjusting the brightness up on the keyboard. You may have to repeat the operation several times before it sticks. It'll generally go dim again, sometimes in minutes sometimes within hours.
