Story: I'll be getting the 1520 in my sig for Xmas, thus, I'll be giving my Latitude 110L to my little sister (she'll use it for Sims 2 and such).

Problem: I had the Latitude sitting on my desk and it fell off earlier today. Desk - one of those foldy things - tipped over, and the laptop went BANG onto some carpet.

The screen got all...weird. Dead pixels, I don't know what to call em. Lot of bright funky lines. Don't know the terminology for it, but I know that I can't see jack squat on this screen.

Computer still starts up, so I *think* the HD and innards are still fine. I'm not worried about losing anything - got an external HD for that - but my sis has been looking forward to it...sorry, don't want to go for the cheap shot there, but this is a desperate situation.

I've tried leaving the screen off for a while, but nothing. Even off, I can see where the screen is messed up, like the funky lines were burned onto the screen, or something.

Can it be fixed? If not, is it possible to replace the screen? I would have NO CLUE how to do this. Or attach to an external monitor?

Please, any advice AT ALL would be incredibly helpful.

You can still use an external monitor and that would be the best and cheapest solution unless she needs it to be portable.

notyou: She was hoping to take it over to her friends, but really, I think she'd be happy with anything at this point. Still, an external monitor - at least on WalMart.com and Dell.com - are $120+. Waaay more than we can afford right now. Thank you for the quick reply :)

sly97531: I would love to know how to do this. Or even know that it *can* be fixed. Thank you for the help! :)

Found an affordable monitor on eBay, but its 15.4...not sure if it'd be too big or whatever. Or would that even matter?
