Hello all,
I recently bought an MS-1012 at a streetmarket, the guy I bought it from span me a story about not having the correct power supply for it and not being able to to charge up the battery. Anyway I stupidly bought it.
I took it to a nearby Computer Fair and tried 2 different stalls selling power supplies but they could not get any sign of life from the MS-1012.
So I took it home, opened it up and yes you guessed it, no processor, hard disc or memory.
I am trying to work out if it is worth building the laptop so 2 questions:
1. If you were you plug in the power supply without the 3 above items being fitted would there be any sign of life on the laptop?
2. It seems to be missing the connector that links the hard disc to the motherboard and also the hard disc shielding. Is it possible to buy these anywhere? I mailed MSI but they said to try some re-sellers but I have had no response from e-mails.
Any help gratefully received
Thanks
Eddy

i'm not 100% sure...but i think you have to have at least the cpu to start up a computer....maybe even the memory.
i'm gonna move this to the hardware forum so that you might get more responses. -
If you do plan to sell or part out let me know i need some parts for other msi notebook i have

It will probably not post without the CPU. But the MS-1012 is a nice little machine. Get a small HD, a cheap celeron M and a 512 stick of ram--then you have a nice little laptop.

Many thanks all for your replies,
I tried fitting some memory to the laptop but there was no sign of activity or power lights.
The main thing I need is the hard disc connector and shielding, I will mail RobM to see if it is possible to source these parts.
There are some pictures of these parts in this pdf:

Thanks again all
