Hi my 1060 is constantly hitting its power limit (75W) ... I have tried Mobile Pascal Tweaker with EEPROM programmer (didnt work, stuck with black screen), VRM for the GPU can handle 120W (source from MSI tech support) temperature wise I have Thermal Grizzly Condactonaut and cooling pad (GPU temps are in mid 70C) ... so my only option seems to be shunt mod ... but after I removed the motherboard I found only some shunts near battery terminal and one near CPU fan ... no shunts anywere near GPU ... I m just trying to get as much performance before upgrading.

Get some photos, but those shunts near the battery are most surely the gpu shunts.

Here is the pic of the bottom side of the board ... I have already tried bridging RP144 shunt but that did nothing som definitely not a GPU shut other than that no more shunts on this side ... 2nd pic: those are two shunts near battery conector are on the opposite corner of the board so definitely not a GPU shunt.

You can flash an msi gtx 1060 88tdp, and set curve voltage at 1800 at 0.850
maybe it will avoid to get power limit

I have found that 88W VBIOS and it worked ... kinda ... the power limit in RDR2 is almost gone (with 1911MHz at 931mV) but the HDMI and a DisplayPort are not working with this VBIOS ... probably because PCI subsystem ID mismatch (last 4 digits are different) I will try to find other VBIOS that might work but I still believe that GPU shunt mod would be better (no hasslle with IDs)

There are few msi 88 tdp vbios try all of these , so you have your gpu working at 99% at 1911mhz with that voltage without reaching 88w? How much it reaches ?

I said that power limit almost stay at "0" but it jumps to "1" few times during 10min, whereas before it was jumping between "1" and "0" tens of times during one minute, with that 88W VBIOS it was hovering around 84-86W (data from Nvidia performance statistic) but still GPU VRM can handle up to 120W so 100W would be sweet spot (temps would be somewhat controlable and power would be almost at desktop variant)

9375 with stock VBIOS Im gonna test other 88W that I found tomorrow

9375 its really slow, I suggest you to monitoring it through msi afterburner with overlay on screen in gaming dude. I get above 12.200 and that with switch graphic with intel without it it would be almost 13k.
Even with stock 78w I get ~11k on fire strike.
just don’t go so high with voltage, it must to be keep max on 0.850 to avoid to reach max tdp.
I am at 1809 on 0.850 locked and it goes just fine.

I will try to get around 1800 on 0,85V but last time I tried (it was 1879 on 875mV) it was really unstable.

1798/1809 should works fine at 0.85 but keep on mind to fire strike, and get regular performance

So, I started at 1810 at 850mV, power limit still present but little bit less, but FS score only 9576, I tried pushing it higher , ended up at 1878 at 850mV anything higgher and FS will crash ... its so weird ... during FS GPU power draw is around 68-72W but clocks are mostly lower than maximum clocks set by Afterburner ... only positive side from this further undervolting are lower temps (max temps during FS were 66°C)

Did you set gpu info on screen to monitor your frequencies?
With that you can see actual frequencies power draw etc

You should forget about over 1800mhz in gtx 1060 laptop without tdp mod
Just you must to got the point about why it’s underperforming, so, enable rivatuner that comes with msi and on msi option to enable pwr limit , voltage , core frequencies overlay in screen.
and just watch That gpu it’s working at 99% what frequencies it can keep long time and gpu power. Plus, don’t overclock vram more than +250. It takes more watts too

There is no need for rivatuner, Nvidia has Performance overlay (experimental feature in Experience) ... during FS GPU utilization is at 98-99%, core clock si around 1750Mhz .. but still on stock core clock curve I got ~9400 score in FS, with undervolt to 1809MHz at 850mV I got only ~9500.

I will probably take out the board and measure if those shunts near battery port are conected to GPU VRM, because I have found pictures of some MXM 1060s that have those exact shunts with same value (2xR005)

it will not going better doing shunt mod due that you have low score even in where you should get more performance i guess.
so you are saying that during FS the core stays above 1700mhz the whole time and even with that you are getting just 9k?
with that clock should be at least 11k
you have normal gtx 1060 6gb not maxq?

So .. even with further undervolting the power limit is stil there and I have noticed that after GPU hit PWR limit core clock drop down rapidly .. FS score got a little bit higher at 9800 ... Im going to try 88W tomorrow and I will post FS score difference here.
