Hello all!
Recently my notebook (MSI GT780, MB 1761) was victim of a short circuit that fried the AC adapter and the graphics card.
I tried to bring out the best from this situation and took the opportunity to do an hw upgrade: a 180W adapter replacing original 150W (not really necessary, but I didn't quickly found a 150W) and a GTX970M replacing the original GTX560M.
With some heatsink / .inf files modification and the help of woodzstack the new card was correctly detected by the O.S. (Windows 7 Ult. 64bit).

There is still a problem, as you may see from screenshots: I have a strange ghost echo near elements on screen, pink/purple lines next to black text on white background (e.g. web page or explorer) and green dots next to white/clear elements on black background (e.g. my The Dark Side Of The Moon desktop background image).

The new card is working properly, because if I connect an external HDMI monitor everything is fine.
The more likely option is that the short circuit damage was more extended than we initially thought. Prime suspects here are the LVDS cable and the screen itself.
It could be the cable because ghost echo is not in a fixed screen coordinates, it dynamically follows text/images, e.g. windows minimize/maximize, mouse pointer and so on.
It could be the screen because I tried to move the cable such as opening/closing the screen or connect/disconnect cable connectors from both MB side and screen side, but nothing changed.
I'm a bit confused, so I'm here to kindly ask you to share your opinion and what would be your primary choice between cable and screen.
Thanks in advance!

LVDS Cable IMO.
When replacing the card, moving the monitor hinges, maybe tension was on the cable enough to pull it out.
That's my first guess, what do we win if we're right ? XD
Oh hey, welcome to NBR BTW, nice to see you registered

You'll just win my eternal gratitude and a little bit of shared knowledge
Sure it could be a bad cable connection, but I tried to remove it and connect it again: the problem is still the same.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find cable schematics (p/n K19-3031002-H39), so I cannot test if there are some broken or short-circuited wires inside... it's a "leap of faith" -

Maybe, reseat the video card, too, sometimes a small piece of dust can cause this effect, but - unsure if it would show or not on the HDMI. Does your laptop have a VGA also ? would test if that has artifacts when it outputs.
If it also has artifacts you know its more or less an analogous thing, and not digital. Maybe try different drivers - imagine if that fixes it....
