Hi all, another question about the MSI GX740, my brother also owns this model of laptop and his HDD died, he purchased a new SSD and installed his own copy of Win 7.
He seems to have abandoned his laptop in favor of his new desktop, but I am wondering if I can transfer my HDD's contents to the SSD and replace it.
What I really want to know is if I can copy the MSI recovery partition across, as I don't have access to his win 7 disk (obviously only usable in one machine) and would like to be able to restore the laptop if I have issues with the OS, is there a certain way to recover this? I am hoping swapping to an SSD will also improve load times in the system![]()
Still 118 views and nobody has answers, I know with HP laptops its not possible due to hard drive tattooing, but in the event of hard drive failure does this mean the recovery partition is lost and you have to buy a new copy of windows?!
Hopefully this isn't the case with MSI as I would like the SSD boost and peace of mind for backups.

Surprised nobody answered yet...
What you need is a disk cloning tool - Acronis is one such utility. As is the following 'free' list/link:

Good luck. -
