So all of a sudden this morning my laptop won't charge. The power brick indicator light is on, and I've tried multiple outlets, but when plugged in, the laptop won't charge. If I'm moving the power cord around, it will sometimes briefly display that it's charging, but I can't replicate the condition. How can I determine what the problem is?

    Thanks

Perhaps bad power cord, but more likely it's the brick.

Only way is to test with a known good AC adapter. And last I checked MSI are pretty proprietary..

    Hmm.

I dunno if 5 years ago they were proprietary or something, but last night I used 2 different adapters with my MSI. One was from a Clevo and the other was from a gateway. ;)

They are pretty standard adapters, 18-20v with a 2.5x5.5mm tip.

Well I meant compared to other notebook manufacturers. There is also MSI's marketshare compared to Dell, HP. Much easier finding a Dell adapter or HP adapter.

MSI doesn't have their own adapter, they usually use liteon and li shin.

Yep, MSI is as generic as they come, for better or worse
