Hello, I am thinking about buying the MSI gt72QE dominator pro.
However, the model with the IPS display is not currently available in my country, and when it is, it will come with 4 x ssd disks, 32gb of ram etc, and I want the model with 2 ssd disks and 16gb of ram, which will not come with an IPS display.
I am afraid I will not be satisfied with the TN-panel of this laptop. From what I've read, there are some problems with the colours and that IPS screens are more sharp. Is this correct?
If so, would I be able to replace the TN-panel of the gt72 dominator pro with a IPS screen in the future? I know I will be voiding the warranty of the screen, but is this possible? And to people who have bought the gt72 dominator pro, how satisfied are you with the screen? And also, is there any color-correction softwares that can fix the supposed problems people are having? Will a game like Far Cry 4 look much better on an IPS screen, and is it worth the money?

Really? No one has an answer? I expected more from this forum. I seriously need help, I don't know if I should return the computer and wait for the other one, or just go with this one.

Hi,
I don't own this computer however, from my knowledge at least, I would think like this..
For the model with the TN screen, it's probably connected by LVDS.. The IPS monitor has to be definetly connected by eDp... Now, I wouldn't expect MSI to make different motherboards for both cases as it would add cost so you should have an eDp port on your motherboard.. As for upgrading the screen, you will need the IPS screen + a new display cable if this were to be the case.. I can't say for sure but someone with a similar model would be able to provide more info for you in GT72 owners lounge..

They used an eDP TN panel so it should just be a swap for plug and play for a 30 pin eDP 17.3 inch IPS 1080p panel.
