    Hi, i was wondering if i can install two 256mb Dell rams from my Dell inspiron 5150 into my MSI-1022 (if i buy it that is)

    i just want to save some money wherever i can

    No, the MSI is going to use DDR2 RAM while the 5150 uses plain old DDR.

    No, no. DDR2 is new. All original Pentium-M computers use DDR. Only recently has Intel switched to DDR2. AMD is still using DDR. It's speculated that until DDR2 speeds reach DDR2 800, there won't be much of a performance increase.

    The thing with DDR2 is that the latencies are higher than they are in DDR RAM. So with one you get higher bandwidth, but with the other the modules themselves are quicker.

    Sorry about the bad news. If you're looking to cut costs (though rawpower's prices are pretty close to par) buy the minimum RAM with the machine and go with RAM from another site like Newegg...

    Unless you are planning on building yourself...in which case you are obviously going with components from other sites.
