IS MXM the way of the future, and worth the money?
or should a basic soldered graphics card be the way to go?

i noticed the Clevo M570RU is a little more expensive ($200) for the MXM.

MXM has always been particularly good for upgrades. Clevo are also a good company in that they do plan for possible upgrades, so newer nVidia cards that may be released, could be compatible with the Clevo. Apaprt from that, Clevo also builds their notebooks very well, and they are probably better than the other notebook you may be considering.

mxm is a stepping stone........maybe someone will correct me but I dont think its worth any extra money currently if a laptop supports it, just spend the extra $ on ram/processor/gpu upgrade

I'm not sure what you mean by a stepping stone, but MXM is a gamble. With it, there may be a chance to swap out GPU's later, however, it's never guaranteed.

mmm i see....although im not much for gambling i guess i will just suck it up and go with the MXM, itll basically cost me $200 for the option. 50/50 chance. i figure if anything i will be able to buy the 7950 and the 8700GT, be able to switch them as needed.

any other opinions are welcome though!
