My MacBook only has 512mb worth of ram. I have a couple of 512mb sticks at home. The where on my Toshiaba. I haven't/affraid to open up the MacBook for now. Are they the same rams, or do Mac rams differ from others?

Should work just fine. Both of those computers can make use of either 533 or 667 MHz DDR2 200 Pin SO-DIMM.

1GB truly is the minimum for OS X to be happy.
