The reviews on Apples website for the battery for the 15" MacBook Pro are, well, not so good. Overall rating is 2.5/5. I would expect a component of such importance to the functionality of product to have much better rating. I've found that some people swear by the quality of the battery in the MBP and others are more than upset with the limited life.

Are the batteries Apples Achilles Heel?
I've ruled out the possibly of a bad batch of batteries because this conflicting reviews date back to March 1st of last year, with the most recent from yesterday (June 6th). Although it could be an enormously large bad batch of batteries. :/

Would some one please shine some light on my concern. I would love to own a MacBook Pro but not if it means dead batteries.

A link to Apples battery page so that everyone may more clearly see what it is I'm questioning.

    Thanks,
    Bryan

You have to take ratings like that with a grain of salt; the vast majority of people who are happy with their batteries aren't going to login to apple's online store just to give the battery a 5 star rating. The reality is that any kind of user product rating is going to be heavily weighted towards people who have a problem and want to vent about it.

Voluntary Response Bias. Not sure why I didn't think of that on my own. After all it was only a few weeks ago that I was in Statistics.

lol...That's true. Maybe we should use a SRS next time for a more accurate survey?
