So ive had this laptop for a couple years and one of the biggest problems it has is its stupid dvd drive. DVDs mostly seem to burn fine, however, CDs NEVER burn right (audio or data) if i try to burn a cd for my 3d class to turn in an assignment, the disk is ALWAYS corrupted, and if i try to burn a cd to listen to music the first 1 or 2 songs work fine but the rest stutter badly if they even play.
my dvd writer is:
Optiarc DVD RW AD-7563A ATA Device
this is really bugging me. im planning on hardcore upgrading and i would perfer not to have to add this to the list of crap i need to buy.
if you have any ideas for me to try please tell me. thanks![]()

Have you ruled out bad discs? I've had entire stacks produce nothing but corrupted discs.

yeah i have. the disks work on the three other computers in my house fine
UPDATE: i may have gotten my drive to work. i did a value change in the registry for my cd burner and i burnt a perfect working cd. imma test dvds then test cds again to make sure. but its all looking peachy -
yep. that fixed it. i had a wierd registry value in my cd burner and after changing it it works great.
Major dvd writer problem
