I would like to become well educated when it comes to notebook and desktop hardware. Im not too worried about software as open source programs are free and sometimes better than commercial competitors. I know of the guides here and they have helped immensely but I want more. This particular site covers everything related to hardware, right? If not, where do I go? Cnet.com has a few guides, are they credible? DesktopReview.com does not seem as active as this site and their selection of guides is limited.
Chaz's GPU Guide is one that is easy to understand and doesnt kill the brain with the more complex aspects of graphics card. This is more or less what Im looking for.
The reason I hunger for this information is that I may apply to retail stores (Best Buy, OfficeMax, etc.) because I need a job and do not have the education necessary to enter the IT field. I also want to help my family and friends choose the right desktop/notebook. You know, save money and ease their fears. Any and all help is appreciated.

Do you currently own a notebook? It will help alot if you do.
Anandtech, Toms Hardware and Wikipedia are also great sources of information.
Also check the Dummy Guide section. You might have to scour through it.. -
Just read as much as you can about the topic. If you don't understand something like at Wikipedia because you can find a lot of technical information there.
