If I were to hook my laptop up to a monitor and use an external mouse and keyboard, what would I need aside from monitor, mouse and keyboard? I see these usb hubs, but is there any reason why I can't/shouldn't just plug it straight from the laptop to the monitor and keyboard. Is there any reason I shouldn't be doing this at all? Also, should I do batteries out or in as I"m charging. And does being plugged in that long do anything to the laptop.
If anyone's got a guide I'd be happy to go there.

Nothing, you would just need moniter, mouuse and keyboard. You can plug straight in and most things are plug-and-play now
-
might want some decent speakers as well.

What laptop(model)?
it might be easier to get a docking station for your laptop that would be easier since all you do is "dock"(either physically or though the express card slot/usb slot) the laptop instead of individually plugging all the wires.
A usb hub allows you add more usb to you laptop and it more convenient(its eaiser to uplug 1 wire then mulitple wires)
If you plan to plug it in directly to the NB then make sure you get an usb keyboard and mouse and make sure you get the right monitor(vga or dvi) -
A monitor stand, so you can slide you laptop under the monitor. Great for saving space on a small desk.
-
How often will you take it from your desk?
You don't need anything special, but its nice having a port replicator so you
don't have so many cables to connect or disconnect each time. -
Ok, thank you. It's a sager np2090 (compal ifl90)

I got a question, if i didn't get my laptop with bluetooth, and a keyboard says it is usb and uses bluetooth technology, is that a go or no? I thought it meant the communication between the usb hub and keyboard is bluetooth, but I wanted to make sure. -
If there is a USB connector with your keyboard, the bluetooth only works between the USB plug and the keyboard, which makes the keyboard wireless. So you don't have to worry about your laptop not having bluetooth.

But if both the keyboard and mouse are wireless, do you think that might interfere?
