I recently decided to go with a Malibal Lotus p151hm1 with an upgraded PSu and the 6990m
However, recently it looks like Malibal has added this component option the build screen:
Just to check, if I were wanting to beef up the PSu with the 180w would I also need the 180w AC Adapter?Code:AC ADAPTER Recommendations: Please select the AC Adapter that will meet your power requirements. Make A Selection Full Range AC-in 100~240V, 50~60Hz, 120W AC Adapter, DC output 20V, 6A Full Range AC-in 100~240V, 50~60Hz, 180W AC Adapter, DC output 19V, 9.47A
I'm sure the answer is yes, but its a new option and its also now, even more money.
Just wanting clarification, thank you.

On laptops, the AC adapter is the PSU. So yes.
-
Haha I had a feeling, I just wasn't 100% sure.
Thanks for clarifying -
Something new every day
Good luck with the Lotus! -
Thanks man looking forward to it immensely

If the laptop runs with the lower power AC adapter, what is the point of a higher power unit?

Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
The higher PSU will enable you to run the more advanced GPUs, like the 6990m.
On the 120w you can run the 560M but not the 6990M
On the 180w you can run both.

Yep ^^ Exactly I plan on upgrading to the 6990m
Instead of cluttering the boards with another noob question..I am curious about this "so-dimm" terminology.
In the options for a Malibal, there is "4 so-dimm" and "2 so-dimm"
Four, being the cheaper options. But what is the difference? Otherwise they are both DD3 1333
Thank you! -

Desktops use DIMMs, laptops use SO-DIMMs, they are just different form factors of the same tech.

But thanks for the clarification.
