I recently decided to go with a Malibal Lotus p151hm1 with an upgraded PSu and the 6990m

However, recently it looks like Malibal has added this component option the build screen:

    Code:
    AC ADAPTER
Recommendations: Please select the AC Adapter that will meet your power requirements.

    Make A Selection
     Full Range AC-in 100~240V, 50~60Hz, 120W AC Adapter, DC output 20V, 6A
     Full Range AC-in 100~240V, 50~60Hz, 180W AC Adapter, DC output 19V, 9.47A

Just to check, if I were wanting to beef up the PSu with the 180w would I also need the 180w AC Adapter?

I'm sure the answer is yes, but its a new option and its also now, even more money.

    Just wanting clarification, thank you.

On laptops, the AC adapter is the PSU. So yes.

    Haha I had a feeling, I just wasn't 100% sure.

    Thanks for clarifying

If the laptop runs with the lower power AC adapter, what is the point of a higher power unit?

The higher PSU will enable you to run the more advanced GPUs, like the 6990m.

On the 120w you can run the 560M but not the 6990M

On the 180w you can run both.

Yep ^^ Exactly I plan on upgrading to the 6990m

Instead of cluttering the boards with another noob question..I am curious about this "so-dimm" terminology.

In the options for a Malibal, there is "4 so-dimm" and "2 so-dimm"

Four, being the cheaper options. But what is the difference? Otherwise they are both DD3 1333

    Thank you!

On the Lotus there are 4 slots for ram. The 4 SO-DIMM option uses up all 4 slots (leaving no room for upgrade unless you replace some of the original ram). The 2 SO-DIMM option uses 2 of the 4 slots leaving you 2 empty slots in case you want to add for ram in the future.

Desktops use DIMMs, laptops use SO-DIMMs, they are just different form factors of the same tech.

    Again, I had a hunch.

    But thanks for the clarification.
