On several reviews of SSDs, mostly anandtech, they torture the drive with big incompressible data to get the drive "Dirty" then perform a manual trim to "restore" performance.
What is a manual trim? Is it zero filling the drive, or something else ?

All that is needed to 'invoke' TRIM is a Quick Format command under Windows 7 (and the appropriate AHCI driver).
Zero filling an SSD is not equivalent to TRIM.
Manual TRIM
