    How difficult is it? Is it financially more viable to do so?

    Well first we need to know what kinda desktop are you talking about and what kinda card half height or full height and make and model of the card and motherboard type and case type or if factory made or not and it's model and make. You can put in a NIC card but knowing what kinda slots you have motherboard will tell you what kinda card you will get.

    Well we don't really need to know THAT much.
    Mainly its (on a laptop) Do you have MPCI-E or miniPCI?

    And, is it an ultraportable, or a brand that thats hard to service (apple, sony, etc)?

    In most cases, its as easy as opening up the bottom, but sometimes you have to take off the keyboard or something.

    I know that was alot to ask but it never hurts to ask incase changes were made from when it was bought or made. I looked up your specs and got some impressive stuff but did your network card go bad or something?

    Below is the options it has which one do you have????

    * Built-in Gigabit Ethernet LAN
    * Integrated 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN + Bluetooth™ V3.0 + HS combo half mini card module or
    * Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6235 802.11a/b/g/n wireless LAN + Bluetooth™ combo half mini card module or
    * Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 802.11a/b/g/n wireless LAN half mini card module
    * Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN half mini card module

    Is antennas pre installed so you just have to hook them to the wireless adapter?

    I suggest you uninstall the drivers for the old adapter before and then do the swap like baiii described.
