Hi
I found a firmware "KMFOPD-01111600-UN.exe" update for my Matsu****a UJ-840D on the Sony website.
Problem is its from Sony, I have a HP ze2366 NB.
I presently have FW1.2 on my Matsu****a UJ-840D and I've got some problems recognizing some DVD+RWs.
I'd like to do an update but am not sure if it will work.
Any ideas?

It should. I remember that with my old sony with a Matsh*ta I flashed it with a Toshiba firmware and it worked fine. Unless sony use their usual tricks so that their software is only installable on their machines
-
Well I tried it and it didn't work. It's written only for Sony's.

Its not that it is written only for sony. The firmware comes from Matsh*ta, but sony use their own installer to do this. But the original firmware is packed in there.
Please can you post a link to the download ... I'd like to have a look at it, and see if the firmware can be extracted from it thru some way. -
rofl
someone needs to update the language filter for this board to allow legitimate words -
if you promise to send me the extracted files.

I just got a new HP nx6125 with the same dvd drive. I tried to burn a copy of the Recovery DVD using the Sonic software included with the NB on TDK 8x-rated -R media. Everything seemed to go fine until completion. I didn't log the message but it had do with inability to write all files and listed 3 files it failed to write to the DVD copy. The original DVD is less than 4 GB so I know its not a space issue.
Doesn't HP test these drives before it purchases and installs them in their products? -
Does anyone still have this firmware update available?
My drive just got replaced by this UJ-840D and I appear to be having the some problems as everyone else.
Mat****a UJ-840D Firmware update available...
