what do you mean "mark"? do you mean the score?

if you look at the first page of the thread, it has a huge table with everyones posts.... there was no post from an Asus G1 yet.... but the main thing to look at is the CPU type, the OS used, and the score to compare with your own... to show if your system is optimal... not being bogged down by resource hogs.

yes i mean SCORE or time ... thank you Gophn, this is one amaizing thread :D

I want to know the score in g1s... probably i buy one c90s ... but if the score of g1s is better i dont know what... probably c90s tho...

do you know some way to find g1s score ? this test is all about processor, so if i test one with same caractheristics its the same result ? thank you again...

    regards

The G1S is using a mobile processor, the C90S is using a desktop processor..

The desktop CPUs are significantly more powerful than the mobile... but they are sacrificing batterylife.

As you can see by the chart. The top notebooks scores come from desktop CPUs.

Sounds like it could be a T7500 or T7700.

nice score (over average for the current notebooks)

    My score(45.765) seems a little low for a SZ360 with a T7200 and 2 GB of RAM.

And did you can optimize your score:
    - disable resource hogs (System Restore, Antivirus, etc..)
    - switch Appearance/Theme to Classic Mode

Hey Gophn, I ran both tests, so I got some scores for ya!

Alright, I tried to run this on a review machine and I got an error that said MSWINSCK.OCX was not registered or something. Is there some sort of patch/fix for that Gophn?

if you are stuck in the 'welcome to wprime' screen (the first screen), use the 'gui' command, the hwbot gui should appear, then click on 'install missing libraries', and you will see the option to install the MSWINSCK.OCX.

hope this fix the problem. :)

    EDIT: glad it worked. :D

    Chaz,

mathx's suggestions are good. (about installing the missing libraries)

Also (if you are using Vista), disable UAC (user account control)... it has caused issues like this before.

If that still does not help, then try to use the
    1.52 version as well.

    updated.. again. :)

Larson, you should be getting a better score with your T7500, but I think you need to do some optimizations.

you can optimize your score by:
    - disable resource hogs (System Restore, Antivirus, etc..)
    - switch Appearance/Theme to Classic Mode

EDIT: Thanks Chaz.... back to the HTML table coding. :)

It's good to see that equally clocked Turion X2s and Core 2 Duos are pretty much neck and neck in this benchmark. Seems to me that the difference between the two isn't as big as most people make it to be when they say that the c2d completely murder any tx2.

That's what I thought... I did have McAfee AV running, but I had everything else that you mentioned turned off (including switching to Classic Mode). Would McAfee AV cause that much difference? I'm sure it would, but I would rather hear from someone to agree/disagree.

Also, how come some T7300's beat me in the first test, but not the second?

First off, I did not have classic theme on... whoops. Second, I turned off McAfee, and this is now my result.

    A LOT better!!!

I will run the second test sometime tomorrow, I don't really feel like running that test right now, lol.

The differences in times you are seeing between the same processor models is most likely due to the different software configurations we are all running. It is highly unlikely that anyone is running the same number/type of background services/processes. Also take into account the different operating systems people may be using. Benchmarks are not technically comparable across operating systems.

I have another question... when I run the test multiple times, I get different results that have a BIG difference... For instance, I just ran the test again, and got 50 seconds. Then I ran it again and got 48 seconds... Then I ran it 2 more times and got 38.2 both times...

it depends on the status of your system...

especially if you have background/services programs running... as well as doing things while its benchmarking.

If you do the test when there is as minimal stuff going on in the background, the scores would be closer.

firewall activity is always on going, which might show the fluctuations.

I would not worry about it too much, you have a great performing notebook there overall.

You can always check the Task Manager to see if any programs are using the CPU.

Yeah, I checked the taskbar, and there was 0-3% usage of the CPU, and around 700-750 MB of RAM being used (which is probably irrelevant). But I'll try to do a fresh restart, and maybe disable my firewall, although I'm not worrying about it too much, it's just really weird about how big these differences are.

After restarting, it does the same thing... but I think I know why (not exactly, but you'll see what I mean).

    Check this screenshot:

Now, under the advanced settings, I choose 2 threads (that's right, right?). Now how does the 1st thread go from 13% down to 12%?

This only happens sometimes... when the scores are high. But why?!?!?!

    thats normal.

both cores do not finish at the same time... multi-threading as not gone to the point that all cores do the same load and finish calculations together.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your post throughly, but I still don't understand how 1 Thread can start at 13% then drop down to 12%. That just doesn't seem logical to me.

If you run a cpu monitor you notice wprime doesnt tax the cpu all the way (atleast it doesnt my e6700) I get 60% load max, if I could find a way to make it use 100% it would be alot faster.

Changing the thread priority didnt matter, that was the first thing I tried.

Fortunately, that's not my main computer. In fact, I first left it running overnight but it stopped with an error message accusing me of cheating because the timing became negative. I wonder whether it looks at the system clock and couldn't handle the roll-over at midnight. Anyway, that machine was fast compared with one I tested (see the results table on page 1).
