Is there a limit for how old the processor can be? I seriously want to post the time that my PII 366 MHz will use. (only the 32 MB one.. 1024MB would be lol)

Redid it got 220.606 sec 32M (speed test).

Then I did it again with only 39 processes running: 196.531 sec

Well well well. I ran WPrime on my PII P-E 366 MHz. Something strange happened in the 1024 MB test.. not sure what. (See attachment)

For 32 MB though: 572.322 secs

    Specs:
    364.2 MHz
    256 KB L2
    256 MD SDRAM @ 66.2 MHz @ 2-2-2-0
    Windows 2000 Pro

^I was going to say overflow until I remembered John Ratsey's 5.92 hour 1024M score.

I've got a slight improvement on my 18th place Single-Core Pentium IV 2.66 HP 764n desktop. New score of 119.031 for 32M. Got it down to 22 processes before running it, that's a new record low for processes. At first when I knocked it down to 38 I got a worse score than when I did it before with 51 - probably the new firewall software I have.

Actually, my PII was an HP Omnibook 4150, not a desktop ;) Although the battery doesn't work anymore, so it essentially is a desktop that has to stay plugged in the whole time...

Oh, and it was Pentium II Performance-Enhanced, I might add. Although I really haven't seen the enhanced performance.

SuperPI is still in accurate and should not be used to compared multi-core CPUs

To be fair, SuperPI is still a decent test of the power of a core's microarchitecture.

its only a single-threaded program... it does not even stress multi-core CPU's...

for a single-core CPU its a great utility to test stability....

for multi-core CPU's..... its pretty much untrusted for stress tests and burn-ins.

Thats why wPrime and other multi-threaded programs are better suited for today's current era of multi-cores.

I thought it might me interesting to see how fast the Linux WINE (non)emulator works. I am using Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 on a BenQ S41 notebook. My results are quite astonishing.

Unless Wprime makes a bunch of Windows system calls, which I doubt, you shouldn't expect any slowdown from using WINE.

I got a 68.53 second time with a Macbook Pro

Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.2Ghz... Windows Vista Ultimate

What am I doing wrong... everyone else here with a T7500 has a time under 40 seconds. Is there some issue with macs?

If thats your time... then that means that you need to do some serious optimizing.

    - disable all resource hogs (System Restore, Anti-Virus)
    - switch appearance to Classic Mode
    ..etc...

If thats a 32M test, then you need to really optimize your OS to get the best possible score.

Get rid of the resources hogs:
    - System Restore (useless usually)
    - Switch Appearance back to "Classic Mode"
    - Indexing of Drives (useless)
    - Anti-Virus, Spyware/Malware detectors/agents...etc..
