    Strange they are exactly the same in every way except that the first one is not fully updated according to the IBM Software installer.

    I tested all settings upto 4M as you can see from the image. I tested at 16k + 32k but it took 0 secs so it registered as "not calculated" but it was tested.

    Battery test was similar.

    The core duo is so da** impressive! The T2500 is comparable to AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ > (even faster!)

    I don't think Turion 64 x2 is going to be as good as core duo is.

    Three-Year-Old Dell 5150 - 3.06 Ghz Mobile Pentium 4 - 512 mb RAM - 60 Gig 5,400 RPM Hard Drive...

    2:10 plugged in
    2:10 on battery (set to performance, as usual since I still get about 4 hours)

    Why am I thinking of an upgrade again...?

    ~ Brett

    P.S. - As I ran the test, the system properties only showed 1.59 GHz being used out of the reported 3.06. Anybody know what's up with that?

    Power saving is usually the culprit.

    few things to check out:
    1. bios for the correct multiplier (doubt it in ur case)
    2. power management scheme
    3. check to see if the manufacturer (or intel) has a newer processor driver that allows the power management according to SYSTEM/PERFORMANCE requirement and NOT power/battery requirement.

    cheers ...

    I recently acquired an early DELL CpiA300 in pristine condition. For amusement I upgraded to Windows XP and wireless LAN. It does everything you might need, provided that you don't mind waiting! I thought it would be fun to run Super PI and share the shocking result:

    DELL CpiA300 : 300Mhz Pentium II, 256MB PC100, 60GB(4200rpm), 12.1" SVGA 24bit colour, NeoMagic256AV
    14m 11s
    14m 34s (Portable/Laptop scheme)
    Can you beat this?

    I also have a proper notebook.
    SONY VGN-S3XP : 2.0Ghz Pentium M, 1GB PC2-4200, 80GB(5400rpm), 13.3" WXGA 32bit colour, 128M Go 6200
    1m 34s
    3m 16s (VAIO Maximum Battery power scheme)

    I am looking forward to bootleg2go sharing his table of results.

    Just because I'm bored, lol this will look funny with all the uber fast core duo times flying in this thread.

    New super pi time for my Inspiron 6000 with ram upgraded from 1 to 2gigs

    Original Super PI time on AC:

    New time:

    Don't want to be a party pooper but pls remember SuperPI is not very accurate benchmark for CPU's. No way is a similar clocked core duo 70%+ faster than a pentium-m for single threaded applications. Its in the region of 10-30%... http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=2663&p=7

    My first measurement (with adapter plugged in)--was 2 minutes and 19 seconds. However, it might have been faster had I not been running FF and had WMP open (no music playing).
    My second measurement (with adapter unplugged)--was 2 minutes and 32 seconds. (This time I had FF and WMP turned off).

    2:16 AC on with programs running
    2:13 AC on no other program running
    2:14 on batteries

    biggest change was the raise in temperature from 40c on AC to 56 on batteries
    on both times cpu use was only 50%

    just run some other values of pi..

    512k=13
    1M=0:33
    4M=2:53
    8M=6:08 all on AC. The temperature rose to 69c on the last two..
