    Howdy,

I own an A8SC-A1, and I upgraded my memory a few weeks ago. At microcenter, I told them the model of my computer, and it turns out they gave me memory for an A8SC. I have been having a few blue screen memory dump crashes since then and i'm wondering if there is any way to see if its the memory that is actually causing it. Also, if someone could point me in the direction for the correct memory for my machine, that would be great.

    Thanks.

Download MemTest86 and run it, see if you have any errors.
If any errors show up(probably not), it will be your ram making the problem.
The problem are probably caused by your programs or you OS

Starting powerpoint causes a crash every time, along with some times in windows exploroer, do you think it could be the difference in ram between the a8sc and a8sc-a1?

    edit: word also causes crash

Why do you think the memory is different between the two models you mention? There are diff RAM but come on 200 pin DDR2 SODIMM? This started when you changed RAM so run the test Allan suggested, if it is not compatable it should show up, or if bad the same.

best answer you'll get. Why are you waiting..go test your memory instead of speculating. Use "RAM probe" if you want an alternative to memtest86

I ran the vista memory diagnostic and it came back negative. I have been having trouble running the other two.

    theyre fairly straightforward.

    1. You download the file and burn the iso onto a cd
    2. Make sure your boot priority is set to your optical drive as number 1. in the bios
    3. restart with CD in the drive.
