What do you guys recommend to test the actual speed of my memory?
(I used the microsoft memory diagnostic before but I don't believe it gives the actual speeds. Recently got my HP zv6000 to 2 gigs! Wanna make sure those babies are running at least close to their advertised pc3200 speeds)
thanks to all!!!!!!!!

SIS Sandra is pretty good. If you want to get all of the info and benchmarks.
If you want something just to read timings, CPUZ is pretty accurate and simple. -
Downloading both right now. THANK YOU kind Sir!

cpu-z-135 also can test the speed of memory, you can download from this:
www.cpuid.com -
CPUZ 1.36 tells me that my memory is PC2-4300 (266 MHz). I bought 2 Gigs (1024 x2) and 533 Mhz bus speed so why does it show my 266 ? Is anything wrong with my memory?

266x2 is 533MHz. You're getting the speed you're supposed to, because the actual frequency is 266MHz, but it transmits data on the leading and falling edge of the cycle, so you get an effective bus speed of 533MHz.

That is why it is called DDR! Double data rate. But pc-3200 for example means the max bandwidth actually. Clock (MHz) x 2 (DDR) x 8 (Bytes) = 200 x 2 x 8 = 3200 MB/s.
pc4300 = 266 x 2 x 8 = 4256 MB/s
Programs like Sandra can measure the real number.

Thanks ikovac and pitabred. I know understand it completely.
